Forest Carols

Ever since lockdown I’ve been part of a group that gather once a month in the Pinewoods for a short outdoor service. We’re trying to link up our enjoyment of nature with love of God and Christian faith. We have managed to meet every month, in all types of weather.

One of the highlights last year was our Forest Carols – a short outdoor carol service accompanied by brass band. We start a little before the sun goes down and got to enjoy sun setting as we sang.

We’re doing this again on Sunday 11th December at 3pm. If anyone lives locally to the Harrogate area and fancies a lovely, free, festive event do come along.

Advent waiting

Wrote this for our first Sunday of advent service at Kairos tonight.
Its based on Romans 8 and a response to the year that’s been both globally and (in implication) personally for H and I.

We wait with the people of South East Asia, of Pakistan and of New Orleans
For a time when man and earth will no longer be in conflict.

We wait with the whole of Creation
We wait in hope for the Sons of God to be revealed.

We wait with the people of Palestine, of Iraq and of Sudan
For a time when all will be free from oppression and bloodshed

We wait with the whole of Creation
We wait in hope for the Sons of God to be revealed.

We wait with the people of Paris, of London and of Bradford
For a time when we can live together in peace and friendship.

We wait with the whole of creation
We wait in hope for the Sons of God to be revealed.

We wait with the whole of creation and with our brothers and sisters around the world.
For a time when we will be liberated from bondage and live in the freedom of God.

We wait with the whole of creation
We wait in hope for the Sons of God to be revealed.

There’s a more upbeat waiting liturgy from Andrew at Home.
